The Member RSS Feed Add On is an official extension of Paid Memberships Pro that allows each member of your membership site to receive a personalized and authenticated RSS feed with the content they actually have access to. It is designed for membership site administrators, premium podcast creators, and managers of restricted content who want to offer their subscribers a convenient and secure way to consume exclusive content through any RSS reader or podcast app.
When the plugin is active, each member receives a unique key (memberkey) that is automatically attached to their RSS feed URL. This URL appears automatically in the Member Links section of each user's account page. When accessing the feed with that key, the system filters content based on the user's membership level: it includes all posts they have access to and excludes those they cannot see, while also filtering out non-restricted public content. If the key is not present, the feed behaves like a standard WordPress RSS feed, showing only recent public posts.
One of its most notable features is enclosure protection in podcast feeds: protected audio files are removed from feed items that the member does not have access to, preventing premium content from leaking. Additionally, the plugin offers a [pmpro_member_rss] shortcode that allows you to create a dedicated feed management page where members can view all their feed URLs, regenerate their key without needing to contact you, and view authentication instructions.
The plugin also includes advanced authentication options: you can enable basic authentication (Basic Auth) using the memberkey as a password, allowing RSS readers that do not support keys in the URL to authenticate securely. It is also possible to disable the key in the URL and require basic authentication for added security. Administrators can customize which feeds appear in each member's list using filters and add as many feed URLs as they wish.
In short, this add-on turns your membership site into a premium content distribution platform via RSS, ideal for podcasts, newsletters, and exclusive posts, ensuring that each subscriber receives exactly the content they are entitled to, securely and without friction.
